This introduction said, the valuable treasure of Art History Museum of Vienna includes seven thousands years of art history, eastern and western civilizations of the world. This prominent and valuable sample of art and civilization of ancient Egypt and Iran up to the end of eighteenth century in Europe which is gathered in the capital of music call us to travel through the history.
The unparalleled diversity of the museum, is the souvenir of personal interests and attentions of “Kaiser Rudolf II” and archduke (title given to a son of the Austrian imperial family) ”Leopold Wilhelm” who were very active in collecting artwork from all over the world in 16th and 17th centuries. It should not remain unsaid that this museum is one of the most unique art treasures of “Renaissance” and “Baroque” in the world. The actual museum building, with its fusion architecture of different periods and styles, was reopened in 1891 after an official opening ceremony after 20 years of remodeling and for the first time, the imperial treasures were gathered in one place.

Gottfried Semper” a German architect from Hamburg and ”Carl von Hasenauer” an Austrian Architect from Vienna, both notable architects experienced in the design and the construction of cultural and artistic monuments, were given the responsibility of the design and construction of the Art History Museum building. The Art History Museum of Vienna, has diverse sectors. The collection of Egyptian civilization and the East, ancient Greece, Paintings Exhibition, Renaissance and Baroque art and The Money Treasury are some of them. The collection of Egyptian Art and East of the Art History Museum of Vienna, with more than 12 thousands of historically timed objects, is the most famous treasure of ancient Egypt in the world.
These objects represent Egyptian civilization and Nile river areas, the west bank of the Mediterranean Sea, Mesopotamia and the Arabian peninsula in the period of 4500 years (about 4000 to 3500 BC up to few years AC).
Sections related to the dead and death ceremonies, cultures history, arts and evolution of writing, are the four parts of the Egyptian treasure in the Art History Museum of Vienna. Also a gift from Iran glares in the same section from the East. An inscription of a an Achaemenid nobleman’s head, related to the reign of Darius the Great about 522 to 486 BC. The inscription of this aristocrat who seems to have benefited of a high rank governmental position has once been hanging above the great staircase of the entrance of the waiting room of Persepolis. The Art History Museum of Vienna like any other important museum in the world exchanges trustfully artworks with other museums. Accordingly, various short-term exhibitions of paintings and other visual arts, historical periods and different regions, arrangements of Contemporary Art (Installation art) along with a permanent museum activities are held in this museum and encourage many people to visit more often. I strongly suggest you to visit this Art History Museum if you happen to be in Vienna.
