Two weeks of forty-eighth Vienna Film Festival, Viennale came to an end. Last Wednesday night, November third, Gartenbaukino hosted more than 700 guests of the world of film and media arts at Viennale 2010 closing ceremony. The ”Viennale” closing ceremony speech was also pronounced by “Andreas Mailath-Pokorny», the Cultural and Scientific Council Chairman of Vienna and “Hans Hurch», Executive Director of ”Viennale”.  And “Vienna Film Prize» (Wiener Filmpreis), ”International Federation of Film Critics Prize” (FIPRESCI) and the ”Audience Award for Best Film” at the Standard newspaper called «Standard-Publikumsjury» were acknowledged to the selected movies.

The ”Vienna Film Prize” for best feature film was alleged to ”Rammbock”, a film by ”Marvin Kren” a director from Vienna and ”Kick off”, a film by ”Hüseyin Tabak”, a German director who lives in Vienna won the Vienna Film Prize for best documentary. Nonetheless, the jury praised also the movie ”The erratic world of Ute Bock” (Die verrückte Welt der Ute Bock), by Houchang Allahyari, Iranian director who lives in Vienna. Also, the ”International Federation of Film Critics Prize” was bestowed to ”Periferic”, a film by ”Bogdan George Apetri” and the winner of the ”Audience Award for Best Film” was the documentary ”Marwencol”, a film by the American director ”Jeff Malmberg”.

The Vienna Film Festival that started with a political taste, displayed 300 short films, documentary and fiction, hosting 96,300 spectators in two weeks. Increase of the number of viewers in “Viennale” 2010 compared to last year, promises an even more spectacular “Viennale” in 2011. “Hans Hurch”, Executive Director of the Vienna Film Festival referred to it in his speech.

The projection of ”Empire”, the festival trailer by ”Apichatpong Weerasethakul”, the Austrian avant-garde short film ”Shadow cuts” by ”Martin Arnold” and ”Alamar” by the Mexican director ”Pedro Gonzales Rubio” ended the closing ceremony of ”Viennale” 2010.
