After a few weeks absence because of Viennale Flash News, reporting on The International Vienna Film Festival, Koocheh Mahtabi starts again. To quote Hafez – ”Finally being far from friends comes to an end”.
A few nights ago, in my dream, I went back in to the past, ”Professor Meshkatian”; to the time when he stood still, with his enchanting spirit and particular complaisance. At dawn, when I came to myself and ”no-time place”, from all that paroxysm of memories, only a dried tear on my face was remaining and a huge desire to review my memories of him. ”Only voices remain” – to quote Forough – and so roaring in the ears of lasting time, created by the fingers of the greatest Iranian musician, promising the Spring garden. A few evenings ago, at ”University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna”, I played Setar and accompanied students and professors from around the world on a trip to the vast territories of Iran. That night I was wearing – to quote Westerns – A black Tshirt designed by myself with the writing of Molavi on it ”Dancing as such in the middle of a place, I wish” and a red scarf.
A few days later, the President of the ”Institute for Folk Music Reaserch and Ethno-musicology” of the University of Music Vienna, ”Professor Dr. Gerlinde Haid” asked me if there was a special reason for the red scarf. I simply replied that I wanted to match the red point on the letter N in the world miaNeh. And it reminded me of the Dance and took me away to Tehran 13 years ago.
At dawn, when I came to myself and ”no-time place, from all that paroxysm of memories, only a dried tear on my face was remaining and a huge desire to review my memories of him
I flew over that blessing night when ”Professor Meshkatian” heard an instrumental piece of the concert of the Group Aref. He became so felicitous and said that they have certainly been inspired by ”in one hand the glass of wine and in one hand the hair of the beloved / A dance as such, in the middle of the place I wish”.
Each time I hear this music, it brings me to the blessing enchanting ”no-where” of Iranian music.
