«A promising opening for Viennale 2011»

Two weeks of forty-eighth Vienna Film Festival, Viennale came to an end. Last Wednesday night, November third, Gartenbaukino hosted more than 700 guests of the world of film and media arts at Viennale 2010 closing ceremony. The ”Viennale” closing ceremony speech was also pronounced by “Andreas Mailath-Pokorny», the Cultural and Scientific Council Chairman of Vienna and “Hans Hurch», Executive Director of ”Viennale”.

«My film criticize the police and the law»

I, Ardavan Taheri, Special Correspondent of Radio Koocheh at the forty-eighth Vienna Film Festival, am having a chat with ”Houshang Allahyari”, the director of ”The erratic world of Ute Bock” (Die verrückte Welt der Ute Bock) after his film was screened for the first time at Viennale. The erratic world of Ute Bock, a symbol of protest to limitations of people freedom added up to the 2010 Viennale atmosphere that had already started with a political taste. This movie is about the life of a woman called ”Ute Bock” who dedicates her life to helping poor, helpless people and goes beyond political and administrative boundaries.

«The erratic world of Ute Bock»

These days maybe only a few people in Austria has not heard about ”Ute Bock”. ”Ute Bock” is a 68-year-old woman who was born in Linz and worked as a teacher for many years, and to quote herself, she is neither a policewoman nor a judge. She has, up to now, received many awards and above all the ”United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees” prize in 2000. But now with the movie “The erratic world of Ute Bock” (Die verrückte Welt der Ute Bock), by Houchang Allahyari, the Austria Iranian filmmaker, her name is going to be remembered alongside great ones such as Mother Teresa.

«Hunter of a voice that lasts forever»

It was Sunday and “Vienna” was reaching the end of a long weekend, but the Executive Staff and News Headquarters of “Viennale”, were involved in work and activities exactly like a busy week day. The 2010 Viennale News headquarters is located on the eighth floor of Vienna Hilton Hotel (Hilton Vienna) and journalists seem to work day and night in their hotel rooms. I had the opportunity to have a quick chat just before he leaves Vienna with the Iranian filmmaker “Rafi Pitts” because of an effective collaboration of “Fredi Themel”, one of the “Viennale” headquaters staff. Pitt’s movie, “Shekarch” (The Hunter) was screened last Friday and Saturday in Urania cinema and Gartenbaukino.

After Doctor “Mailath-Pokorny” ‘s speech, ”Eric Pleskow”, the chairman and ”Hans Hurch”, the Executive Director of ”Viennale” also delivered a speech.

«Introducing Viennale’s theatres»

I am Ardavan Taheri, special correspondent for Radio Koocheh, in direct from Vienna reporting on the forty-eighth Vienna International Film Festival, ”Viennale”. In five days, the official opening of the forty-eighth ”Viennale” will take place. Tonight, it is probably a good opportunity to take our time to have a look at the theatres hosting ”Viennale” together. I thought it would have been a good thing to set the mood already.

«Press Conference at Gartenbaukino»

After several weeks of impatience, excitement, exchanging emails and phone calls with ”Antonella Cerullo”, responsible of news headquarters of Vienna Film Festival (Viennale), finally on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at 6pm, despite a severe cold and high fever I found my way to the the entrance hall of the ”Gartenbaukino”; The theatre that was inaugurated simultaneously with the first ”Viennale” in 1960.
